SG seeks priority registration for GI Bill recipients

GI-Bill-300x199
Wright State University’s Student Government discussed a proposal in support of priority registration for active military, reservist, guardsman and veteran students under the GI Bill. The GI Bill only provides 36 months of benefits.  Service commitments for training and deployments may alter their class schedule rotation for degree programs and leave them behind academically.  If priority registration for GI Bill beneficiaries is authorized, our military students will receive the same prioritization as WSU Honor and Athletic Students.  The prioritization will enhance the student in getting core classes to maintain their perspective program schedules. Nick Warrington, Vice President of Student Government, felt very positive about the pending proposal.

His remarks during an interview reflected WSU’s commitment to our military student population. He said he believes the WSU Board of Trustees will agree with the student body and wants the university to be recognized as a “veteran friendly” campus. Warrington also said he believes WSU’s positive relationship with the Veteran’s Administration will also enhance recruitment opportunities among the community’s veteran residents adding an additional dimension to WSU’s diverse student population.
