Wine Tasting

This past fall the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance hosted a wine tasting and silent auction event in order to raise money for a scholarship fund for NLA students at WSU. The event was a success, with in more than fifty attendees and $1000 raised. As a result, the same event will be happening again on April 15th from 6-8 p.m. at Therapy Café in Dayton.

The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance is a national certificate program at WSU that offers internships to students who are working to become CNP’s (Certified Nonprofit Professionals). The program offers support alumni from WSU and other colleges who participated in the program and those that completed NLA classes. The program offers a weeklong conference every year called Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Management Institute, in which students are able to participate in hands on workshops and gain experience in knowledge leadership skills in nonprofit programs. The wine tasting and silent auction event will serve as a fundraiser for this conference.  Sarah Masters, an attendee of the same event held in the fall was glad to help students go to the conference.

“Students do not get many opportunities to go to conferences like this and I know that my support is going to a good cause and contributing to a healthy future for them,” said Masters.

The next NLAMI conference will be held in Atlanta, GA in 2013. Sarah Williams, the President of the NLA at WSU is honored to have a second opportunity to host the event, “I’m really excited to see the results of this event, in light of the success the first one brought to our program and the students,” said Williams, “ This event gives student’s an opportunity to build networking circles, learn more about the NLA and it gives us the opportunity to recruit new alumni to our program so that they can give back to WSU.”

The silent auction includes prizes such as Dayton Dragons tickets, artwork and kids baskets that were all donated from local businesses. The event is open to the public and tickets are on discount for $20 if purchased before Friday or $25 at the door. Those who are purchasing tickets early must show proof by ID that they are either a WSU student or an Alumni Association Member. If you have any questions regarding the event please call Alumni Relations at775-2620.
