Car Show this weekend

Calling all commuters! The Commuter Student Association, Student Automotive Association, and Student Government are hosting the first ever Car Show on campus this Friday, May 25th. The event is taking place 1-5p.m. in Lot 4. The first six rows of Lot 4 from the campus entrance will be available for cars to be shown.

Registration for those wanting to show cars is $5 and participants should arrive at 12:30pm in order to secure a spot in the show. The registration fee and all other proceeds will go towards a commuter scholarship fund, which will be awarded at a later date. Abby Benston who is President of the Commuter Student Association and Commuter Senator for Student Government is excited to be a part of hosting the event.

“We wanted to do an event that would reach out to Wright State's commuting population, and figured a huge unifying factor is that most commuters have a car. We are hoping to raise at least $500 for the scholarship fund so that we can have a positive impact on the commuter student body at WSU.”

The event, although primarily targeting commuters, is open to all students and people in the community. Local vendors are expected to participate in the show including, car dealerships in the area. Vehicles of all kinds are welcome however those wanting to show multiple cars must register e each car separately. Greene CATS, a public transportation system for both Greene and Montgomery counties is expected to enter one of their buses for the show. Commuter student and Finance major Gabriel Hadden is looking forward to an event that is reaching out to commuter students.

“I’m excited to go to the car show. As a commuter it’s hard to feel connected to campus so I’m happy that this is directly involving us.”  Other activities happening during the show are to be announced. If you have any questions about the Car Show or questions about upcoming events and services that the Commuter Student Association offers through the academic year please contact Abby Benston at abby.benston@wsusg.com.
