Do you know the Muffin Man?

For the past two years, Craig Kigar, the WSU Hot Dog Man, has been selling hot dogs, donuts, coffee and other foods and drinks for students on the go.

Kigar sells long dogs, Rueben dogs and quarter pound dogs. He also offers multiple condiments including: relish, shredded dill pickles, mustard, spicy mustard, ketchup, chili, cheese and much more. He uses Nathan’s Famous hot dogs.

Long dogs are $2.75 a piece or two for $5. Quarter pound dogs are $3.75 a piece or two for $7.

“It’s an alternative to the food on campus,” said Kigar. “They’re the greatest hot dogs in Ohio, very seldom is there a wait and it’s the friendliest corner on campus.”

Kigar also sells tea, lattes, espressos, hot apple cider during the season and hot chocolate. During Fall Semester he will serve breakfast from 7:30-10:30 am Monday- Friday. He also offers a customer courtesy card for breakfast where after five large coffee purchases, students receive a free coffee and donut.

Kigar also offers a hot dog customer courtesy card where students can buy ten hot dogs and get one free.

Kigar is a Wright State alumnus. He graduated in 1979, majoring in political science. Since then he has gone on to create Silas Enterprises, where he is the CEO, and he works for the food pantry in Kettering during the holiday season. He helps the pantry collect Christmas baskets along with the help of Greenmont Church and Church of the Ascension.

“This is a fun second career. Students are great. That helps,” said Kigar.

This quarter the WSU Hot Dog Man will be open Monday-Thursday from 11-4. He is located in The Woods by Boston Hall. The stand will not open on rainy or cold days. Although he does not accept the Wright-One card, he does accept Discover, Visa, MasterCard and cash. For more information go to www.facebook.com/WSUhotdogman.
