Pipe break causes flood damage to Nutter Center

A bracket holding a water pipe inside the Nutter Center snapped around 1 a.m. Thursday Morning causing areas of the building to flood.  Due to the water damage the WSU Athletic Offices will be closed until Wednesday.

Classes within the Nutter Center have been cancelled for the remainder of the week.

When cleanup crews arrived early Thursday morning the water was reportedly ankle deep causing damage to many university computers, which are uninsured according to the athletic department.

Track and cross country head coach Fabien Corbillon’s office was still ankle deep in water at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Water traveled down to the lower floors also causing damages to the second floor locker rooms as well as locker rooms for tonight’s volleyball game vs. Valparaiso.

Wright State officials say it’s too early to determine an estimate of how much damage was done but cleaning crews claim many of the carpets affected by the water will not need to be replaced, only dried.
