Numerous coaching changes were made by the WSU Men’s Basketball team today after assistant coach Clayton Bates took a coaching position at Western Michigan University last month.
Brendan Mullins has been promoted from Director of Basketball Operations to assistant coach. Taking over his old position will be Billy Donlon Sr., father of current men’s head basketball coach Billy Donlon. Donlon Sr. was previously an assistant coach at Providence and Northwestern from 1982-1994 and helped lead Providence to a Final Four appearance in 1987.
In addition Raider legend Bill Edwards has been named an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Edwards is the all-time leading scorer (2,303) and all-time leading rebounder (907) in Wright State history. Edwards lead WSU to their 1st appearance in the Division I NCAA Tournament in 1993 and is the only player in men’s basketball history to have his number, 42, retired.
