As the fall season comes to an end and Halloween preparations begin, students at Wright State are searching for the best place to celebrate. Luckily, Dayton offers many venues and events to help make this Halloween the best one yet.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, Masque, the club located in downtown Dayton, will host its annual “Drag Me to Hell” celebration. People will line up for a night of dancing, enjoying Drag shows and entering the costume contest for the chance to win prizes. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the Drag show starts at 10:30 p.m. For students over the age of 21, the cover is only $7 and 18-20 is $10.
The Oregon District will have their “Hauntfest on 5th” on Oct. 27. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with tickets for $5; $10 after 10 p.m. This street party welcomes all ages and hopes the live music, great food and drinks will entertain. People can expect to avoid paying cover charges at the bars located within the Oregon District until 12 p.m. The “Hauntfest” will host a costume contest with signups ending at 9:15 p.m.
Aside from all the typical parties, consider seeing a movie. Rave Cinema 16 in Dayton will show the 1978 “Halloween” on Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. They will also show “You Can’t Kill the Boogeyman: 35 Years of Halloween.” Tickets are $7.50 with a student ID.
As always, keep in mind the many haunted attractions that continue on throughout the month.
The last weekend for Kings Island “Halloween Haunt” is coming up beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday, going till 1 a.m. on both days. With a student ID, tickets are $25.99 on Friday. On Saturday, tickets are $31.99 if bought online.
The Land of Illusion, with its six haunted attractions, will remain open until the first Saturday in November with tickets at $34.99.
For friendly Halloween fun, Young’s Dairy will have their Haunted Wagon Rides at 7:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday night in October. Tickets are $9.00 each.
