Campus janitorial staff sees some pretty strange things

Wright State University’s Custodial Services staff has seen some pretty weird things. Gina Reese, Custodial Services manager, tells us some of the weirdest things. “Once, we got a radio call for ‘a cleanup of a centipede,’” Reese said. “The custodian went to the lecture hall and searched for several minutes before a student, sitting alone in the back of the classroom...pointed at the centipede and said, ‘You know, those things can kill you!’” Reese went on to say that another time, a little girl with her mom, who was a custodial employee, was crying. She went up to a custodian and said, “’Can you help me? I lost my first tooth, and it fell down the drain!’” Residential students know that raccoons hang around dumpsters on and around campus, just waiting to raid the garbage. “At Mini University, the raccoons must recognize the custodian that takes out the trash,” Ms. Reese said. “One night, she went outside for something else first, and when she came back out with the garbage bags, the raccoons chased her back inside and waited at the door!” Ms. Reese stated that the custodial staff has also reported seeing flashers around campus over the years and, more recently, some particularly nasty graffiti. Apparently, the custodial staff has had to clean up after a very literal ‘smear campaign.’ Ms. Reese, looking uncomfortable, said that “Someone has been going…’number two’ in their hand, and smearing it on the walls. We haven’t been able to figure out who.”
