The Adventurers' Guild allows members to become different people through role playing games

The Adventurers’ Guild is a gaming organization on campus. They focus on table top, card and video gaming. Most of the members have interests in all types of games and support this with a fun and social atmosphere.

“Anyone can join. Just show up and we’d be happy to get you involved in the group. You don’t need previous experience,” member Kevin Kirke said. “The Adventurers’ Guild is for people who do role-playing games. It’s similar to pretending to be a superhero or character. You must act as they would.”

According to Kirke, anyone with interest in video games, card games or table gaming (Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer 40K) are welcome to stop by the meetings, which are held every Friday.

The Adventurers’ Guild was created in 1989, with the rise of the internet. At Wright State, the group focuses on allowing players to role-paly characters with others within the game. This could lead to bitter rivalries, great alliances or help to shape the world through interaction. All of these things allow players to become more involved in the AG world and so makes the place much more enjoyable.

It also gives players a way to interact in the time between turns.

“The best part of being a member of this group is hanging out with friends and just having fun,” Kirke said. “Students should join if you’re interested in role-playing and meeting new people.”

This group has a meeting every Friday night rain or shine on the third floor of Oelman Hall from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. They also are planning Glory Con, a convention designed for people who have never played and are interested. Local shops come and sell items during this time.
