New VP chosen for Student Govenment

Wright State Senior, Matthew Harmon, has been decided the new vice president of Student Government after Marc Tshimanyika’s resignation earlier in Jan.

Harmon’s promotion was made official at the Student Government meeting Tuesday night, where President Joseph Gibbons said the decision was of “huge consensus to everyone in the interview”.

This semester will serve as Harmon’s one and only term in the vice president position, as he will graduate in April. Harmon said that he feels privileged to get the opportunity, and that his previous experience in student government will make the transition much easier.

“I’ve had a lot of experience in Student Government, and I learned a lot from it,” Harmon said. “I’m extremely honored because I can not only help this organization, but this university as a whole.”

Harmon served as the director of academic affairs during fall semester, and served the previous year as the senator for the College of Business. Harmon has also been involved in the Dean’s Student Advisory Board for the College of Business, the Golden Key Honorary Society, Management Information Systems Club and Supply Chain Club.

“I’m used to how things work,” Harmon said. “I’m used to managing people.”

Harmon said that his management style was very similar to Tshimanyika’s, and that the position change would not have much affect on the functioning of the organization as a whole.

“I don’t think it’s going to affect our organization much at all,” Harmon said. “It’s not going to be a huge transition”.
