Campus resources that can help graduating students find jobs

Don’t wait until the last minute to start preparing for life after college. There are many opportunities available for students, as well as alumni, to better prepare for impressing future employers. There will be three recruiting days in March that give students an opportunity to get out and begin networking. At each of these events, there will be approximately 56 business employers coming to search for potential employees. These recruiting days offer opportunities for students to find possible internships, co-ops, and career employment. The first recruiting day will be held on Wednesday, March 13 from 1:00 - 4:00pm in the Apollo Room. This event will be focused on Government, Social Action, Healthcare, and Communication Industry and will include such businesses as Talbert House, National Youth Advocate Program, Clear Channel Dayton, Catholic Social Services and many more. The second and third Recruiting Days will both be held on Thursday, March 14, the first being held from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and the second from 1:30 - 4:30 pm, in the Apollo Room.

The morning session will be a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Recruiting Day, while the afternoon event will focus on business. Some of the companies attending the STEM event will be Heapy Engineering, Lexus Nexus, Ball Aerospace and SOCHE (Southwest Ohio Counsel for Higher Education), while companies including DFAS (Defense Finance and Accounting Services), Reynolds & Reynolds, Shook Construction, New Page Corporation and Menards will be attending the Business Recruiting Day in the afternoon. To better help prepare you for these events, Career Services has scheduled two Career Fair Preparation Workshops. These workshops will last approximately one hour and will help students learn how to prepare themselves for the recruiting day events. This is an opportunity to get first hand information from the actual people that will be hiring. The first Career Fair Preparation Workshop will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 4:00 pm and the second will be held on Tuesday March 5, at 4:00 pm. The recruiting days and workshops both require registration by logging into the Wright Search using your UID and campus PIN under the “Career Events” tab. Students who register early will receive periodic e-mails with additional information about the events. The Wright Search also has many other opportunities for students to attend including an Education Fair and Interview for teacher candidates and administrators on March 12, and an Employee Ability Fair for students and alumni with disabilities on March 15.
