Five Rivers MetroParks in Dayton is offering ice skating lessons for adults this winter. There are three dates available to sign up, which include Jan. 20, Feb. 3 and Feb. 17. Lessons are held in downtown Dayton at Riverscape from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $10 for every lesson. People can register online or by phone.
“I’ve noticed that people really enjoy the lessons,” Kendra Foote, Urban Events Programming Coordinator for Five Rivers MetroParks, said. “For the children classes especially, people sign up multiple times and normally there are waiting lists to enroll.”
According to Foote, for the adult classes there are 15 slots open. While the rink is open, people can enjoy treats from Café Velo, including a cup of hot chocolate. The rink has been open since November, and will continue to stay open until the end of February. Patrons may skate daily. Monday through Thursday there is no admission charge, so if people own skates, they can practice for free. During the weekends admission is $7 and includes the use of skates. Ages three and under are free with a paying adult.
