The men’s basketball team opens up Horizon League play tonight as the Raiders host the Phoenix of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
The Raiders are undefeated at the Nutter Center this year and are continuing a four game home stand after defeating Mount Saint Joseph this past Sunday 58-49 where junior Jerran Young scored a career high 24 points in a Raider victory.
This will be the first conference games for each team in a series that historically has been extremely competitive with Green Bay holding a 24-22 all-time series lead over WSU after the Phoenix swept the Raiders a season ago.
Wright State (9-4, 0-0) will be looking forward to the probable return of junior AJ Pacher who has missed the previous three games with a foot injury. Pacher’s size may be needed to contain Green Bay’s 7’1” Alec Brown who is averaging 11.7 points per game for the Phoenix. Also averaging double figures for Green Bay is guard Keifer Sykes who leads the team with 16.6 points per game.
Green Bay comes into tonight’s matchup with an overall record of 6-7 but is riding high on a three game win streak including a 49-47 win over Marquette last month.
Wright State students can receive two free tickets to the game at Gate 9 of the Nutter Center beginning one hour before tipoff. The game will also be broadcast on Time Warner Cable Channel 311 or free online through the Horizon League Network at www.horizonleague.org.
