There are plenty of things to do in Dayton during Spring Break. Activities include: visiting historical sites, performance and entertainment venues and attending family fun festivities and clubs.
Entertainment:
Scene 75 offers games, indoor go-karts, a 4-D motion theater, blacklight mini-golf, a blowup play area, a restaurant, laser tag, a chaos room (a room with big screen televisions set up for gaming), bumper cars, mini-bowling and more. The Schuster Center and Victoria Theatre, both located downtown, are the city’s prime location for plays, concerts and performances.
The Neon is an independent movie theatre that shows films which have a limited release. They are open daily.
There are also various skating rinks (Huber Heights, Kettering, Vandalia) and bowling alleys (Beaver-Vu).
The Riverscape offers the city a chance to experience ice-skating until the end of February.
Dayton also has family fun activities such as the Boonshoft museum, which is a place that explores science and inventions, and SunWatch Village that preserves archeological findings of the Native American Culture.
Food:
Some restaurants in Dayton that offer something outside of the normal American meals includes EL Mesan which serves exotic tapas and spicy entrees and the Amber Rose, which serves sauerkraut balls and Hungarian chicken paprika. The Spaghetti Warehouse is another prime location in Dayton that features all kinds of fresh pasta, cocktails, beers and wines. These restaurants can all be found in Downtown Dayton.
Historic sites:
Visit the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park and experience the birth of aviation from Dayton’s own Orville and Wilbur Wright. This includes the Wright Dunbar Interpretive Center and the Wright Cycle Company Complex, which allows people to see where the brothers worked.
Another historic place to visit is the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The museum is minutes away from campus and holds the national aviation hall of fame, as well as exhibits from World World II, the Korean War and the Cold War.
Dayton Carillon Historical Park is another way to experience the heritage of creativity and invention. It has a 65-acre campus and 25 exhibit buildings and structures. People can see the 1905 Wright Flyer III, Dayton-made cash registers, vintage automobiles, train cars, bicycles and the largest Carillon in Ohio.
Nightlife:
The Oregon district, located downtown, is a strip of shops, bars and clubs. Bars normally hold drink specials on the weekends. Downtown also has other clubs such as the Masque, that caters to different groups of people and features drag queen shows and high intensity techno and pop songs on the upper level. This club is easy to find because of the rays of rainbow colors that light up the building. Therapy Café, Club Vex and Club Vault plays rap and hip-hop songs and occasionally holds Old School Nights that features old R&B songs.
