Sigma Phi Epsilon to host annual Queen of Hearts week: Proceeds go to the American Heart Association

“Queen of Hearts Week is a week in which Sigma Phi Epsilon puts all its efforts into raising money for the American Heart Association,” Vinícius Vargas said. All of the proceeds from the event go to AHA, and this year, Sigma Phi Epsilon is putting a special emphasis on raising awareness of ways to prevent heart disease. According to Vargas, “all the events are going to be lots of fun as well as educational.” On Tuesday, Feb. 19th and Thursday, Feb. 21st, Sigma Phi Epsilon will host events for their annual “Queen of Hearts” week. Feb. 19th is a Dodgeball Tournament, held in the Student Union gym at 7 p.m. Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. For each team of five, the tournament costs $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. In addition to the tournament, there will be music and a competition for Best Costume. Sigma Phi Epsilon’s 2nd annual Queen of Hearts Pageant is on the 21st. The pageant will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Apollo Room of the Student Union. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. There will also be raffles and a Miss Congeniality contest— determined by the number of raffle tickets in each contestant’s pot. Women interested in competing in the pageant can email the coordinator of the event, Vinícius Vargas, at vargas.9@wright.edu for an application, which must be turned in by Feb. 17th in order to participate.
