Students show off their talent at the ARTSGALA

While the art department gets ready for its annual ARTSGALA presentations, this year held on April 6, seniors graduating this spring, summer or fall have another thing to focus on: the senior thesis show held at the Gala.

Graduating seniors do all the artwork being showcased at ARTSGALA, as it is a graduation requirement to submit pieces for the thesis show.  Forty-two students will participate in this year’s show and their work must be submitted to and approved by their professors and framed before being hung for exhibition.

According to Nancy Patton, administrative specialist for the art department the patrons attending the Gala can contact students whose pieces they may wish to purchase.  This allows students to establish connections and potentially book future clients for after graduation.

“It’s amazing that they can take a blank canvas or piece of paper and turn it into [artwork]...it just amazes me,” Patton said.

More information about the senior show can be found on ARTSGALA’s website, www.wright.edu/artsgala.
