Throughout the month of February, Wright State will be searching for its next provost. Six candidates
are currently scheduled to be interviewed for the position, and as the provost position revolves around
academics, students are strongly encouraged to participate in the open forums.
On Feb. 5th, Dr. Thomas Sudkamp, former chair of Wright State’s Department of Computer Science
and Engineering and associate provost for undergraduate studies and University College, interviewed for
the position. He is currently serving as the interim provost.
Dr. Mohammad Karim’s public forum will occur on Feb. 7th from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Rathskeller of the Student
Union. Dr. Karim is currently the vice president for research at Old Dominion University, and was formerly the
school’s dean of engineering.
Dr. Christopher McCord, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Northern Illinois University
and former associate dean for graduate affairs at the University of Cincinnati’s McMicken College of Arts
and Sciences, will be entertaining a public forum in the Rathskeller from 2-3:30 p.m. on Feb. 11.
Dr. Dwayne Smith’s forum will be on Feb. 14 from 2-3:30 p.m. in Student Union room 163. He
served as both senior vice provost and vice provost for faculty and program development at the University
of South Florida.
Dr. S. Narayanan, who is the current dean of the Wright State College of Engineering and Computer
Science and executive director of the Wright State Research Institute, may be addressed on Feb. 18
from 3-4:30 p.m. in Russ Engineering Center Room 144.
Dr. Daniel Wubah is the current deputy provost and vice president and dean for undergraduate education
at Virginia Tech. His public forum will occur on Feb. 20 from 1-2:30 p.m. in Student Union Room
Apollo B.
