Gem City Comic Con (GCCC) is an annual event featuring the sale of more than 100,000 comics and hundreds of collectables. The Con also features special guest panels, costume contests and a Magic: The Gathering tournament.
GCCC is returning to Wright State Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24. Guests include Howard Chaykin (artist of the first 10 original issues of Marvel’s “Star Wars” comic series), Stan Sakai (creator of the comic series “Usagi Yojimbo”), Dan Parent (creator of the first openly gay character in the Archie comic universe), Tim Seeley (prominent G.I. Joe artist and creator of “Hack/Slash”), Joe Staton (creator of the second Huntress character) and several others.
Admission for students is $8 per day. Regular admission is $10 per day or $15 for both days. Sunday tickets can be purchased at the door on Saturday for only $5. Free admission is also available to those who bring in their own collection of comics and collectables to sell. The Con runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. For an additional $5, there is early admittance on both days from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. which includes a limited edition “Shrugged 2” #1 comic with an exclusive Gem City Comic Con cover.
