More "Wright State pride" requested in tunnel system

The Wright State tunnels could soon be getting a makeover.

A resolution to “encourage decorating of the tunnels” was passed by Student Government in February. This resolution requested the incorporation of the school’s colors (green and gold), and more “Wright State pride” in the tunnels of campus.

University College Senator and primary author of the resolution Ryan Rushing said that there is too much white in the tunnels, and that they are bland.

“In general, they’re really plain.” Rushing said.

Rushing is currently forming a committee within Student Government that will be looking into the details of the potential project. Rushing said that the tunnels are one of the most distinguishing features of Wright State, and that they need improvement.

“The tunnels are a hallmark for Wright State,” Rushing said. “It’s one of the things we pride ourselves on."

Rushing said that he hopes the project will stay within the university, and that students and staff work on much of the painting. Vice President of Student Affairs Dan Abrahamowicz offered to fund student organizations working on the project, according to Rushing.

“Everyone we talked to was extremely supportive,” Rushing said. “Whenever you can get students involved, it’s better.”

Rushing said that he was not concerned with the details and specificities of the project, as long as it was completed.

“The goal is to have it done in a manner that is professional and long lasting,” Rushing said.
