RCA's Sibs Weekend to bring activities for residents and their sibs

The Residential Community Association (RCA) will host their annual Sibs Weekend from April 5- April 7.  The theme is “A Safari of Siblings.” There will be activities and entertainment planned for siblings of residential students.

“Many of our residents live hours away from the university so this was a way for them to be able to spend time with their siblings because we all get homesick sometimes and being able to spend time with family helps,” RCA Director of Traditional Events Ashley Cowan said.

According to Cowan, siblings of Wright State residents are able to attend this weekend and may register by going to the office of Residence Life & Housing website and filling out the forms and registration information. There are no age requirements but they prefer siblings in grade school and up. Some of the events during the weekend include, Hamapalooza, a magic show, “zoo in honors,” movies, climbing wall in the atrium and other various activities around campus.

“Planning Sibs Weekend is very hectic and stressful but also exciting and fun,” Cowan said. “Sibs Weekend is always different each year as the theme changes. I am most looking forward to the Columbus Zoo coming to our sibs. ”

According to Cowan, Sibs Weekend allows students to show their sibs how wonderful their university is while getting to spend some quality time with them and encourage them to work hard in school to get to college one day.

“With Sibs Weekend, we hope to show residents that they are role models to not only their peers but to the ones who look up to them the most - their siblings,” Cowan said. “Students and their sibs can expect tons of fun and food and a weekend they will never forget.”
