Through the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), medical students at Wright State host a “Healthy Habits Week.”

“We have fun little events throughout the week to promote lifestyle changes for us as students as well as teach techniques of how to affect lifestyle changes in our future patients,” said Joey Resch. “We also have a pedometer challenge and a bit of competition to liven the week up as well.”

As an event that has been occurring for several years, the Healthy Habits Week has a grand finale of an AIDS 5K Benefit Walk/Run. “Aids Resource Center Ohio is an excellent organization that offers treatment to many AIDS patients who don't otherwise have the means for healthcare,” stated Resch. “Additionally, 5K's serve as a terrific opportunity for everyone in the community to get out and enjoy some exercise, snag a t-shirt, donate to a great cause, and (perhaps most notably) enjoy some outdoor spring weather.”

All proceeds from the run go to the Aids Resource Center Ohio (ARC Ohio). The race will occur at the Wegerzyn Gardens on Sunday, April 14 at 9:00am, regardless of the weather. Those who are interested in participating can register via e-mail or online. Race day registration will begin at 8:00am. Prizes will be awarded in men’s and women’s age categories, and all participants’ names will be entered in a raffle.
