Boonshoft School of Medicine hosts TEDMED

The Boonshoft School of Medicine hosted a simulcast of TEDMED, an annual conference that focuses on health and medicine, on April 17 in White Hall.

TEDMED is a "multidisciplinary community of innovators and leaders who share a common determination to create a better future in health and medicine," according to the organization's website. The event was held at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and featured a plethora of speakers and performers over a 3 and a half day period.

Speakers at the event included  E.O. Wilson, Craig Venter, Katie Couric, Dean Kamen, Sanjay Gupta, Billie Jean King and the executive directors of the health agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Dean of the Boonshoft School of Medicine Marjorie Bowman, Assistant Professor and Executive Director of Community Health Sharon Sherlock and Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery Matthew Di Paola also moderated a discussion following the viewing of the TEDMED talks.
