Reach Committee to host event addressing cultural awareness

On Friday April 12 the Reach Committee will be holding a public dialogue to address issues of cultural awareness. Interested students can meet in the Org Complex at 6:00 p.m. “REACH actually stands for Raiders Educating and Advancing Cultural Horizons,” explains Lola Adebayo. “It’s meant to be a liaison between students and the student government.” According to Adebayo, the committee was founded this year when she became Director of Campus Culture, with the intent of discussing issues of cultural awareness. “There are so many different kinds of students on campus, not just in terms of racial minorities, but in terms of majors, or parents with children,” Adebayo explained. The Reach Committee meets three times a month to talk about cultural awareness on campus. The last meeting of each month is open to the public. Adebayo stressed that students “don’t have to be affiliated with an organization or be a leader of an org.” The public dialogue meeting each month is meant to help the student government understand what they should focus on in terms of cultural awareness. Students who are interested in becoming involved with the Reach Committee may contact Lola Adebayo at lola.adebayo@wsusg.com.
