Humane Society to host free party at Quaker Steak

The Humane Society will be hosting the "Catlanta Motor Speedway Victory Lane After Party" at Quaker Steak and Lube on Saturday, July 13. The event is free and open to the public.

The party will be held from noon to 8pm at Quaker Steak and Lube on Colonel Glenn in Dayton.

The Humane Society created the event in celebration of  their successful 24-hour spay and neuter event last month, which spayed over 197 cats within 24-hours in June.

The event will feature several activities, including mechanical bull riding, a money cube, line dancing, a silent auction, face painting and more. Students will also have a chance to dunk the Dayton Sharks football team in the dunk tank. Free food and a DJ will also be at the event.

All proceeds from the event will go towards various projects for the Humane Society, including supplies for animals in foster care, abuse and neglect investigations and spay and neuter programs. "It's a great way to have fun and help animals at the same time," said Marketing and Development Project Manager of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton Jessica Gurringer.

The Humane Society also hopes to bring awareness to the Dayton area about the importance of spaying pets and the overpopulation of stray animals. The spray and neuter events are held several times a year and allows pet owners to have their animals safely neutered at a low cost.

Gurringer said she wants Wright State students to understand the responsibility of owning animals if they are looking into having a pet. It is vital to know beforehand everything your pet will need in order to properly take care of them, she explained.
