Wright State head baseball coach Rob Cooper will be named head coach at Penn State University “possibly as soon as later today,” according to Dayton Daily News.
WSU Athletic Director Bob Grant could not be reached to confirm Cooper's departure. The PSU Athletic Communications Department was also not able to confirm the announcement.
Cooper, who could not be reached for comment, coached the Raiders for nine seasons and compiled a record of 286-230, including seven consecutive 30-win seasons, six appearances in the Horizon League championship game and three NCAA regional berths.
During his time at WSU, Cooper has seen 21 of his players go on to the professional ranks, with seven of those players being selected to the Major League Baseball Draft.
Cooper will be replacing former Nittany Lions coach Robbie Wine, who resigned in June after finishing the 2013 season with a 13-36 record.
