Mumford and Sons perform in Troy

If you have an affinity for mustaches, indie-folk music and $110 in your wallet, The Gentlemen of The Road Stopover Tour in Troy, OH was the place for you.

The festival took place Aug. 30-31.

Headliners included Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros and the indie kings Mumford and Sons. The English folk rock band took the stage on Saturday night at 8:30 to a roaring crowd of 30,000 in the Troy Memorial Stadium.

A  long-time Mumford and Sons fan Benjamin Allen said that this was his second time seeing Mumford and Sons.

“They were just as good the second time,” Allen said. “The food was expensive, the weather was hot and I had a good time.”

Wright State student Shannon Williams also attended.

“It was run really well and was well put together. Mumford and Sons put on the best show I have ever seen.”

The square in Troy was filled with vendors. Many local shops painted their windows with various depictions of the band members and their signature mustaches. Local talent was on display with bands performing in the streets.

A “haunted” bookstore was on display, as well as multiple coffee shops and pubs.  The improv sketch comedians Upright Citizens Brigade also performed at the Redmond Inn.

The GOTR Stopover Tour is set to finish in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and St. Augustine, Florida, this September.
