Area surrounding new classroom building site cut off from pedestrian traffic

During the week of Oct. 7, Wright State's Physical Plant will be installing fences to block foot traffic on the west side of University Hall, said a Physical Plant email sent Friday, Oct. 4.

The fence will be installed for the safety of students as construction begins on the New Classroom Building. Students will still be able to exit the west side doors of University Hall, nearest the Student Union, but must enter the building from the Rike Hall side, said the Physical Plant. There will be no entrance to University Hall from the Rike Hall side.

There will be two temporary sidewalks to re-route pedestrian traffic during construction, according to the Physical Plant. One temporary sidewalk will lead from the west side of University Hall to Parking Lot 7, which will remain open. The other sidewalk will be located behind Hamilton Hall.

In addition, the small Trustee Parking Lot (Lot 5) will be closed. Four of the parking spaces will be relocated to Lot 7, and handicap parking can be found on either side of the walkway between Lots 7 and 8.

According to the Physical Plant, these closures will be in effect until construction on the New Classroom Building is complete in spring of 2015.

UPDATE: Due to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new building, some Lot 7 parking spaces will be unavailable on Friday afternoon, Oct. 11. The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m.
