Student dies of medical complications related to disability

Wright State student Brant Isaly-Johns died in his College Park apartment early Sunday morning from medical complications related to a disability.

The liberal studies major died from complications of spinal muscular atrophy type II, according to a Busch Funeral and Crematory Services obituary.

Director of Residence Life & Housing Dan Bertsos said that the circumstances of the death are still under investigation.

Isaly-Johns spent Saturday evening with some friends, and they went to his apartment later in the evening. "There he experienced some medical problems," according to Bertsos.

Emergency medical services and Wright State police were contacted and arrived promptly, but were "unable to help him," Bertsos said.

According to Bertsos, the student had a number of medical complications due to a disability.

Isaly-Johns was from Avon Lake, Ohio, near Cleveland.
