Forward Tayler Stanton and guard Symone Denham both sustained right leg injuries during practice Monday.
Stanton fell to the floor during a collision underneath the basket when the team was running a modified full-court drill. The 6-foot junior stayed on her back for several minutes before athletic trainers helped her to her feet. Stanton required crutches to leave the court and was taken to the trainer’s room for further evaluations.
Bradbury said Denham “landed on someone’s foot” and added the injury occurred “about 10 minutes” into practice. Denham was wearing a leg brace on her right leg.
Assistant Athletic Trainer Brad Muse said Stanton would visit with Dr. Corey Ellis, a team physician for Wright State athletics and a sports medicine physician for Beavercreek High School.
Raiders’ head coach Mike Bradbury would not say who would take Stanton’s place in the starting lineup if she were unable to start Saturday against UIC.
“We’ll just wait to see what’s wrong with her,” Bradbury said.
Stanton has started all 24 games for WSU and leads the team in field goal percentage and rebounding. She has averaged 7.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest this season.
Denham has appeared in 11 games for the Raiders this season.
