Tuesday’s exhibition game at Alumni Field finished the match the way it started, in white-out conditions.
The near blizzard erased the final 11 minutes of Tuesday’s game as the Dayton Dutch Lions defeated Wright State 2-1.
Dayton scored back-to-back goals within the first 15 minutes of the game. Veteran forward Shintaro Harada converted off a cross to get the Lions on the board. Two minutes later, Columbus Crew prospect Ryan Finley beat the outstretched arms of Raiders keeper Tyler Blackmer.
The Raiders went on the attack after Finley’s goal.
Austin Seifert volleyed a pass over the defense to Eric Lynch who found the top shelf of the net in the 32nd minute to cut Dayton’s lead in half.
The 2-1 result held through the 79th minute when a heavy snow squall forced officials to call the game.
Wright State is 0-1 in the spring exhibition season with its next exhibition game being Saturday at Ohio State. The Dutch Lions are 2-1 in exhibition play this spring. Dayton begins its regular season Sunday versus the New York Red Bulls.
