Wright State University’s Hospitality Services hosted a Grand Opening Celebration for Tim Hortons today in the Student Union from 11 a.m-2 p.m.
The Grand Opening Celebration included free timbit samples, the option to name the WSU specialty donut, a wheel students can spin for free to get prizes that include a dollar off coupon for Tim Hortons, drinks, chips, candy bars, and more, and a timbit eating contest between Sukhmanjit Singh, current President of Student Government, and Kyle Powell, current vice president and incoming president of Student Government. Powell finished the timbit eating contest first and received a bag of WSU swag.
According to Clint Kernen, Director of Public Relations for WSU Hospitality Services, Hospitality Services chose to follow suit with typical business practice by waiting a few months after the official opening to host a grand opening celebration, in order to avoid placing any unwanted stress on the business.
But now that business is going well for Tim Hortons and students are coming back from spring break, it seemed like the appropriate time to celebrate, according to Kernen.
Cameron Peagler, Senior Nursing Major participated in spinning the wheel and won a free soda. He stated that he liked Tim Horton’s service in the time that it has been opened.
“I’ve only eaten there once,” said Peagler, “but the service I had was pretty adequate.”
