First-year head coach Greg Lovelady’s Raiders earned the Horizon League regular season crown Sunday defeating Youngstown State 7-3.
Wright State clinched the league title with two weeks to spare in the regular season. The Raiders have a 21-2 conference record Valparaiso has been the only team in the league to beat WSU.
Wright State will be the No. 1 seed for the Horizon League Championships May 21-24 in Mequon, Wisc.
WSU last won a regular season title in 2011. That year, the Raiders won the Horizon League postseason title and played in the NCAA Tournament.
Pitcher Luke Mamer threw five innings Sunday allowing four hits and one run for his first win of the season.
WSU designated hitter Sean Murphy hit his third home run of the season in the top of the sixth inning.
