Career Talks help students become career ready

Career Services is offering a series of training sessions with topics focused on helping Wright State students become ready for their future careers.

The fall series, entitled “Get Career S.M.A.R.T. with Career Talks,” consists of five different topics that follow the “S.M.A.R.T.” acronym. Lisa Duke, assistant director and advisor for Career Services, explained what each topic consists of.

“Beginning the freshman year, the Majors and Activities topics show students how to lay the groundwork for future career success.  The Wright Search is helpful for all as it walks students through the benefits and how-tos of using this Wright-State exclusive database. For the Social Media talk, we focus on cleaning up or hiding current social media accounts and why and how to use LinkedIn.  Finally, the Résumé talk shares important information for the beginning stages of résumé development and can also serve as a refresher for students who are revisiting their résumé as they approach an internship or career job search.”

All Career Talks are held every Tuesday and Wednesday during the semester from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in 136 Student Union, which is the presentation room inside Raider Connect.  Fall sessions run through finals week.

Spring Semester topics are in the planning stages and will be announced at the beginning of the semester.
