While Wright State women’s basketball head coach Mike Bradbury has questions on which newcomers will contribute to this year’s squad, he has no question on what his starting lineup will be to start the season Friday at Austin Peay
“It is a little bit (clearer),” Bradbury said about who might play a significant role for WSU this year. “We will still see. It is going to take us a few games to get a rotation figured out but we’re closer.”
Bradbury said he is starting a lineup consisting of all five of his healthy starters in Friday’s opener. It is the same lineup Bradbury used versus Ashland in an exhibition game on Nov. 1.
The lineup will consist of forwards Tayler Stanton, Breanna Stucke, Courtney Boyd, Tay’ler Mingo and Kim Demmings.
The Raiders had its closed scrimmage on Sunday as a final tune-up for Friday’s game.
“We made improvements from the previous week and that is what we worked on in practice the previous week,” Bradbury said. “It is encouraging that we can take some mistakes and work on them and get better.”
Starting five seniors is a new experience for Bradbury. Bradbury said that as the squad gets healthier, WSU will use at least four seniors in the starting lineup.
“I am not sure if it is good or bad,” Bradbury said. “Four of them will start all year.”
The Raiders spend their first two games on the road in Tennessee before returning home next week to host Murray State and Southern Illinois. The Raiders won six of their first seven games before going on to the NCAA Tournament later in the year.
“We need to get off to a good start,” Bradbury said. “We have a couple winnable games and we need to make sure we do that because it really stiffens up later. We need to get a good start to build confidence and most importantly, be playing well and taking care of ourselves.”
