It was a bittersweet weekend for former Wright State center Tavares Sledge. On Saturday, the Mobile, Ala. native earned his bachelor's degree from WSU in three and a half years. Just two days later, Sledge was remanded (sentenced) to three days in jail.
Today in Fairborn Municipal Court before Judge Beth Root, Sledge pled guilty to an illegal handling of a firearm charge when he brought a loaded weapon to WSU's practice facility in September. Several weeks after the incident, he was kicked off Wright State's basketball team by head coach Billy Donlon.
With Sledge graduated and off the basketball team, once he serves his three days in jail, he can move on to his new chapter in life as a college graduate.
