A night in Monte Carlo: WSU softball’s biggest fundraiser

Saturday at the Nutter Center’s C.J. McLin Gymnasium, the Wright State softball will host its biggest fundraiser of the year, Monte Carlo Night starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 10:30.

Head Coach, Lynn Curylo said, “It’s an exciting and fun evening as well as our biggest money maker. Besides being an opportunity for us to raise some money for our program it is also an awesome event for the community. We have individuals from all over coming and alumni driving three hours for this event.”

Tickets cost $25 pre-ordered or $30 at the door and include all you can eat barbeque, baked beans, coleslaw and macaroni and cheese. Drinks include lemonade and water and for those 21 years of age or older, all you can drink beer and wine. Also included are a door prize ticket and an opportunity to visit and contribute to the 2015 Wright State Softball team.

Door prizes include a 48’ Samsung Smart HDTV, a yard trimmer, monster headphones and cash.

There will also be a silent auction at the event including a Florida Georgia Line signed guitar, tickets to a Cleveland Indians game with a hotel for the night, and season tickets to different Wright State sporting events.

“Our girls are hands-on,” said Curylo. “They’re selling tickets, they’re doing the emceeing. They’re a big part of the event.”

Tickets can be ordered through any softball player or in the Nutter Center’s Athletics Department on the third floor. For children of 12 years of age or younger tickets are $15 pre-ordered or $20 at the door.

The Softball team is also holding its fourth annual Homerun-A-Thon this season as a fundraiser.  Fans can pledge a dollar amount to donate for each homerun hit by the team this season. Pledges are due by their home opener on March 17 where WSU hosts Ohio in a double header starting at 3 p.m.
