Wright State spokesperson Seth Bauguess said Tuesday that the university has tabbed local inventor John Janning as its commencement speaker for the May 2 ceremony.
Janning, 86, a veteran of the Korean War, worked for National Cash Register and is the owner of dozens of patents. One of his most recognizable patents involves liquid crystal displays (LCDs). He began working for NCR in 1958.
Janning is an inductee to Engineering and Science Hall of Fame.
