Being Cedar Fair's most popular amusement park, Cedar Point is home to 17 prize-winning roller coasters. Apart from that, it houses over a hundred thrill rides, family rides and water rides, let alone a beach front facing Lake Erie. Right next door is Soak City, Cedar Point's very own water park.
Working at Cedar Point grants amazing opportunities. For one, there's free admission to every ride and park listed above, as well as free admission to any of Cedar Fair's parks, from Canada's Wonderland to Knox Berry Farms in California. Add to that an employee discount on food and merchandise, various optional summer trips that include Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York and Niagara Falls and access to employee ride nights in the lights and you have an amazing summer.
While from the inside this job appears perfect, things aren’t always what they seem. For a lot of students such as myself, living in the housing at Cedar Point is the first time living on their own. Since I will be a commuting student this fall, I assumed that living three hours away from home for the summer would be the best solution; however, homesickness is apparently one of the worst illnesses a college student can have. If after only two weeks of living away is more than enough for you like it is for me, it’s possible that a week-long camp counseling job is better off for you. But if you need time away, to find yourself, to learn new cultures, or to simply get away, Cedar Point would be the perfect place for you.
