Countdown till Christmas: Craft fun for 24 days

As we grow closer to Christmas Day on Dec. 25, many of our Facebook newsfeeds are filled with reminders for how many days until the annual holiday. Below are some creative ideas for how you can count it down in a fun way:

1) Trimming Santa's Beard:

Santa-beard

This cute calendar allows you to give Santa Claus a short but daily trim of his long white beard. Each section is clearly marked and given a number to show how many are left. As with all of these calendars, you can choose whether to number the days as how many are left or the date that it currently is.

Find the instructions for this beard calendar here. (Tip: You may have to translate the page to English as the instructions are in Italian.)

2) Snuggly Elves:

With just some craft felt, toilet paper rolls and a few everyday supplies, you can create 24 little elves to place on your mantel, counter, coffee table or desk. Get the directions here.

3) Grow Santa's Beard:

While the first idea had you cutting Santa's beard, this one has you growing his beard. Just create the basic image of Santa and add a cotton ball to his chin for each day. If you'd like, cut out white circles instead so that you can write the numbers for each day.

The directions can be found here but you'll have to scroll down until you see the above photo.

4) December of Activities:

To put a spin of things, this one gives you the opportunity to choose fun activities for your friends, family and/or roommates to do. You can choose simple items such as drinking hot cocoa or baking cookies up to tasks with more planning such as Christmas caroling or helping a stranger. Actually, you don't even need to decorate the jar, if you don't want, instead just use strips of papers if you're on a budget!

Decorating tips and activity ideas here.

5) Mini-Muffins:

Take a trip to the thrift store to buy a mini-muffin pan (or two normal muffin pans). Put decorative or simple covers over each of the little cups with the daily number. For added fun, put small candies and/or toys in each of the cups. Full instructions here.
