The Wright State baseball team was victorious in both games of a double-header on Saturday, Mar. 12 as they took on Eastern Michigan to increase the teams win streak to four games.
In the first of the two games it was more than what you would call a lop-sided victory, the Raiders won 14-0.
Freshman JD Orr, sophomore Matt Morrow and junior Daniel Arthur each had three hits with one of Arthur’s being a homerun.
Freshman Caleb Sampen was the pitcher of record to give him a 1-0 record, he pitched five innings of two-hit baseball, striking out six batters.
The second half of the double-header was much closer, EMU got out to a 2-0 lead, but the Raiders scored three in the bottom of the third inning to put WSU ahead 3-2.
Wright State scored one more run in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to make it a 7-2 ballgame, but the Eagles tried to make a game of it adding three runs in the ninth. They ultimately fell short giving the Raiders their fourth win in a row.
Senior Jason Defevers hit a two-run homer in the seventh and junior Mark Meyer recorded the win to improve his record to 3-1.
Wright State (10-6) will be on the road Wednesday, Mar. 16 as they take on the Louisville Cardinals (13-2) at Jim Patterson Stadium. The first pitch is at noon.
