Eleven days after he was granted his release on April 6, sophomore guard Grant Benzinger has made the decision to stay at Wright State to continue has academics and play guard for the Raiders men’s basketball team.
“I just wanted everyone to know I plan to stay at Wright State and continue my collegiate career as a Raider,” Benzinger said. “I am looking forward to the next two years with Coach Nagy and I'd like to thank everyone for their support for me.”
Benzinger drained 62 three-pointers last season for a team-high and averaged 9.1 points per game his freshman season and averaged 7.6 per game last year.
Benzinger was granted permission to leave the university after requesting to do so shortly after the firing of former head coach Billy Donlon on March 18.
Former head coach at South Dakota State University, Scott Nagy is now in control of the men’s basketball team at Wright State and will look to replace five seniors from last years roster.
