Scott Nagy announced as men's basketball coach

The 16-day search for a new men’s basketball coach is over as Wright State announced the hiring of former South Dakota State University head coach Scott Nagy on Monday, April 4.

During 21 years at SDSU, Nagy posted a 410-240 record and led the Jackrabbits to five consecutive postseason appearances with three Summit League championships in the last five years.

“I'm thrilled to welcome Scott, Jamie and their family to the Raider family,” athletic director Bob Grant said.  “Scott has not only achieved great success as a head coach, but he also shares the values and priorities that I believe make our culture special.  Scott runs his program with impeccable character and puts a tremendous priority on the student-athlete experience, which I believe makes him a perfect fit for us.  I'm very excited about the long-term future of our program with Scott at the helm.”

The Jackrabbits earned a 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament in 2016 with a 26-8 overall record and 12-4 conference record.  SDSU fell to Maryland 79-74 in the first round.

“My family and I are extremely excited for the next chapter in our lives,” Nagy said to WSU.  “It was clear to me at every step of the interview process that Wright State University has everything in place to have a successful men's college basketball program. I'm so grateful for the opportunity that President Dr. David Hopkins and Athletic Director Bob Grant have given us.”

Nagy will be introduced as head coach in the main area of the Nutter Center on Tuesday, April 5 at 10 a.m.
