With a week and a half of school left and then a week of finals following quickly after, it can seem like the semester has flipped from a slow crawl to a 100-dash sprint. Preparing for finals isn't always just about study tips but even more so prepping for the big week isn't something that a student should wait till the last second to begin.
1. Map It Out
Take out a calendar, print one off the internet or write one up and lay out the entire rest of the semester. If there are a lot of projects, papers, etc to do along with social events, consider using different colored markers to separate each category. Also, check out the Finals Week schedule here to schedule your exams.
2. Health
No, it's not necessary to start a new cleanse diet but consider eating in more often to avoid fast food-style meals. Drink plenty of water, not coffee or soda and be sure to get plenty of rest (just as you do during the semester, right?). Instead of late-night study binges in Dunbar consider going to bed a little early and waking up at the equivalent time in the morning to study then.
3. Social
As a post on Facebook this week said, "Pain is Temporary, GPA is Forever." This time of the year results in a lot of parties, events and celebrations especially if it is your last one. If your Finals Week looks to be a heavy one you might want to cross off a couple of those social events if even to make sure you get to bed on time if not to study.
4. Seek Help (If Needed)
If a class was particularly hard this semester, seek someone out from the roster to study with though this is a double-edged sword. When emailing/talking to them about setting up a study session, be sure to show your interest in actually preparing for the final and that you will show up with materials. You don't want to come across as the student who just wants all the answers in a cram session that they will have to facilitate.
5. Actually Study
More and more students are finding themselves in college without proper study habits. Now, the end of the semester isn't necessarily the best time to start a new method but perhaps you'll find something to start with now and keep for next semester. Look up different styles and make your own twist on it.
There's no one Wright way to studying!
