In the wake of May the Fourth, with the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and the trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” released April 7, this spring is buzzing with excitement, but have we learned anymore about the mystery box?
In terms of productions, Disney has five more movies planned in the Star Wars universe that will hit once a year until 2020. Rogue One is next on the list, with a December 16, 2016 release date.
When the trailer released and revealed that Rogue One is set prior to the events of Episode VII and that the main character is also a British brunette like actress Daisy Ridley who plays Rey, there was much speculation as to whether or not new lead heroine Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, is Rey’s mother.
However, there is no evidence to prove one way or the other. We will simply have to see the other movies to know for sure. What can you expect when you give JJ Abrams control of a script? Only pain and suffering from asking too many questions.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” has been said to take place between the events of “Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and “Episode IV: A New Hope,” according to Slashfilm. It’s also said to involve the heist of the original Death Star’s plans, which aided the rebels in Episode IV.
Following Rogue One, we have the final two episodes in the trilogy happening in 2017 and 2019, as well as two “Star Wars Anthology” installments covering the histories of Han Solo and Boba Fett releasing in 2018 and 2020.
