Not all kitchens are found in restaurants. Dayton has a team of food trucks that aim to provide unique dishes made with locally sourced ingredients that will please your belly.
PA’s Pork
If you like eating pig, PA’s Pork has a lot of it. Their multi-cultural menu has European and American influences, but all their entrees are related through smoked meat. From pierogi to quesadillas to pulled pork sandwiches, smoked meat plays a part. There are vegetarian options as well. Find them on their website, paspork.com or social media.
Zombie Dogz
This truck puts out horror-themed hot dogs with quirky names, like the Cuban sandwich inspired “Juan of the Dead.” Each menu item comes with gourmet toppings that will give you a truly unique hot dog experience, unless you opt for a plain hot dog, which is treated with the same care as any of their other meals. You can find more information on their Facebook page.
McNasty’s
The name may be nasty, but this truck is not. McNasty’s makes sandwiches crafted with locally sourced meats and breads. They make a rib-eye cheese steak sandwich that is popular and a burger topped with bacon and macaroni and cheese called the “OMG Bacon Burger.” Check out their Facebook page for more menu items.
Mohawk Freestyle Grill
Run by trained chef Aaron Hanover, Mohawk Freestyle Grill serves up an evolving menu of burgers, tacos, gyros, soups and more. Each dish uses out of the box ingredients, like the Kung Fu Burger, a chicken burger cooked with Kung Pao sauce, peanuts, Asian slaw and green onions. Stay up to date with their location on Facebook.
Horseless Buggy Eatery
If you want straight American cuisine, check out the Horseless Buggy Eatery. They offer freshly made loaded chicken and steak sandwiches, burgers, hand-breaded pork tenderloin, fish tacos and seasoned fries. Make sure you carry cash when you visit, because the Horseless Buggy Eatery is a cash only business. Find out more information on their Facebook page.
Ramen Rickshaw
The only Dayton location to get quality ramen is on wheels. Ramen Rickshaw serves this authentic Asian soup, as well as other eastern dishes. This isn’t the dry brick in the plastic packaging; it’s the real deal. You can also get fried rice and gyoza, or Japanese dumplings. Check out their social media to stay in the know.
Hunger Paynes
Who doesn’t love deep-fried food? Hunger Paynes serves croquettes, some of which are award winning. Their croquettes consist of meat and other ingredients that are rolled into balls and fried to a crisp. They come in different forms, like Reuben or buffalo chicken, and are topped with dressings like thousand island or ranch. Every order comes with potato chips as well. For more information, you can go to their website, hungerpaynes937.com, as well as on their Facebook page and twitter.
