Attacker on Ohio State University campus leaves 11 injured and suspect dead

A knife attack on Ohio State University's campus left 11 hospitalized, according to the authorities.

According to OSU President Dr. Michael Drake, the suspect ran into a group of pedestrians using a vehicle, then proceeded to cut several people with a butcher knife.

The suspect has been identified as Abdul Razak Ali Artan, a Somali immigrant. Artan said in a Facebook post how he was "sick and tired" of see how Muslims were being "killed and tortured."

The morning of the rampage, Artan posted on Facebook for Americans to, "stop interfering with other countries, especially the Muslim Ummah," a term for Muslim people at large. "By Allah, we will not let you sleep unless you give peace to the Muslims. You will not celebrate or enjoy any holiday."

Drake urged the public to not jump to conclusions when asked if this was a terror-related assault.

"We all know when things like this happen that there's a tendency sometimes for people to put people together and create other kinds of theories. We don't know anything that would link this to any community. We certainly don't have any evidence that would say that's the case," Drake said.

Artan was shot by OSU Police Officer Alan Horujko, after Artan failed to comply with orders to stop. Due to the actions of Horujko, the attack ended in less than two minutes.

"As you may have heard, our friends at The Ohio State University are experiencing an active shooter on their campus," WSU president David Hopkins released in an e-mail statement. "Please keep them in your thoughts as we watch these events unfold. Also, please be ever vigilant about your own environment. We will keep you updated with any information you may need for your own safety. And please visit http://www.wright.edu/police/emergency-preparedness to familiarize yourself with our emergency procedures."
