Going to a place of worship and practicing religion is a right that everyone has. This can sometimes be hard when living on campus, because everything is out of the norm. Wright State University has many opportunities for students to keep in touch with their faith even when living on campus.
According to Org Sync, WSU has a total of 17 religious organizations that students can become members of. Freshman E’Nautica Crockett, 18, is a member of one of those organizations, Chi Alpha.
Crockett is a nursing pre-med major and is a believer in Christianity. Crockett is a big supporter of the community that Chi Alpha brings to the table.
"They are very friendly and they treat you as though they’ve known you forever," Crockett said.
The most interesting thing about Chi Alpha is “how it’s not only focused on religion, but it focuses on helping you grow as a person, and it creates bonds with many people” Crockett said.
This is just one example of what WSU has to offer for students who want to get involved religiously on campus.
Although most of the organizations are Christian based, WSU also has organizations for other fellowships and communities. There is also the Muslim Student Association, Chinese Bible Study Fellowship and the Pagan Student Association.
Providing these organizations is essential, especially for on-campus students because it gives students a chance to practice their faith while being away from home. Also, being welcoming to all religions and beliefs is beneficial when it comes to making students feel included.
“I love how they respect other choices and encourage it rather than discouraging people away from what they believe in," Crockett said.
