No matter your gender, skincare should be an essential part of your daily routine. While society somehow deemed taking care of yourself as a much too "feminine" trait, winter is harsh on all of our skin.
The cold dry air dries out skin, chaps lips, and can cause any current skin issues to become more severe. Of course the most common remedy is to moisturize daily. Even if you have oily skin, moisturizing will help slow your skins production of its own oils and the moisturizer will take care of skin problems. If you have dry skin, your skin is already craving moisture, just make sure not to over-do it or your skin will learn to create less of its natural oils and could make your dry skin worse.
Finding a good exfoliator is good for both oily and dry skin to remove the dead or dry flakes and let skin breathe. High end brands tend to be expensive, but there are recipes to make your own homemade exfoliators with your choices of ingredients and scents. Again, don’t over-do it.
If you’re going to be in the cold for a long time, make sure to bring hats and scarves to prevent damage to your skin. Sunburn is also incredibly possible in winter as the sun reflects off of the snow and can be even more damaging than just in summer so staying covered is a must for outdoor winter adventures.
Lastly, water is a key object to our skin. Something like a humidifier is good for putting extra moisture into our living environments so that dry heat doesn’t dry us out inside and out. As for showers, super hot water strips the natural oils from your skin while cold water closes pores. Lukewarm is best for bathing.
