At certain points in the semester, students become stressed and need a break from their studies. University Activities Board (UAB) held an event called "Stress Reliever" for students where a variety of activities were made available in Ratheskellar and SU Atrium to destress before finals.
"This is an annual event and the gentleman that is in charge of this particular thing is Trent Fuller who is in charge of campus events. We have the common things like the rage room and the stress reliever over here. Massage therapists and plates are a big thing. Each year, we change it up a little bit." UAB volunteer Emily Herting said.
In Ratheskellar, room 008 of the SU, tables were set up with colorful tablecloths with lego pieces, sharpies, and markers. The other side of Ratheskellar consisted of a trash can, yellow caution tape, and stacks of plates on a rolling cart, ready to be smashed by high-strung students. This was known as the "Rage Room," a favorite among the student body.
The Student Atrium, located in the middle of the SU, had circular tables set up with coloring books, massages, and other miscellaneous activities.
Junior Courtney Hodson liked the coloring books, but "was stoked for the massages." Hodson also recommended going to the rage room especially if a student was stressed and needed to release tension.
UAB's "Stress Reliever" event was open to the entire campus and students were free to partake in the activities they enjoyed. "We usually have events going on in the atrium or somewhere in the union at least once a month, so definitely check them out." Herting said.
