On Tuesday, Dec. 20, Thomas Sudkamp announced in an email that he will be stepping down as Wright State University’s Provost, effective June 30 of 2018.
Starting then, Sudkamp will no longer serve as the Vice President for Curriculum and Instruction or Dean of the University College.
Having been appointed as Provost in the summer of 2015, Sudkamp will have served for three years.
In the email, he outlined four goals that he intended to meet when he accepted his appointment as Provost. They included:
Restoring community confidence in the ethical standards of the university and the Provost’s Office, leading a budget remediation and realigning expenses with current and projected revenue, providing “administrative continuity” while the university transitioned to a new president, and prioritizing academic programs and opportunities of high quality for students.
At this time, there has been no announcement or indication of a successor to Sudkamp. The announcement of his resignation is being made now in order to ensure time for a search to take place that ensures “a smooth transition as President Schrader builds her leadership team,” said Sudkamp in the email.
He thanked the university staff, faculty, and administrators who had provided support in the goals outlined in the email. “It has been and, until July, will continue to be an honor to serve the university as the Provost,” he concluded.
